Wellness Credit Program Improves in 2018

Posted by: Sally Ann Lake

If you are enrolled in a Northwell Health medical plan, you can earn $1,040 in 2019 paycheck credits for completing four healthy actions in 2018. The annual program, now in its fourth year, is currently creating two new wellness actions which will launch in 2018:

  • NEW IN 2019 – Stress Less: this interactive wellness action will evaluate your stress and provide you with useful behavior and management exercises that will help keep your stress in check

New hires and those new to the plan will automatically receive their credits upfront and have six months to comply.*

It’s never too soon to be healthy!

The best way to prevent illness is to keep on top of your appointments and screenings each calendar year. The following wellness actions are available to you in 2019 and  worth $260 in paycheck credits in 2019:

  • Physical Exam or Well Visit (Employee Health visit does not count): Once a year
  • Dental Exam and Cleaning: Twice a year
  • Vision Exam: Once a year
  • Breast Cancer Screening (Mammography): Once a year – more if at risk
  • Skin Cancer Screening: Once a year
  • Colorectal Cancer Screening Action (Colonoscopy): 50 years and over, every 10 years – more if at risk
  • Cervical Cancer Screening Action (Pap Smear): 21 years and over, once a year – more if at risk

Other Wellness Actions

  • Online Health Risk Assessment (HRA): This is required to receive any credits
    • Visit Northwell.edu/myWellness, click on the Program folder then click on the “Take the HRA” button on the top right side of page
  • Financial Wellness Video (this action will be replace with the new Financial Wellness Module January 5, 2018)
    • Visit Northwell.edu/myRetirement – you’ll see the video on the home page
    • Phelps and Northern Westchester participants do not have access to this action
  • Feinstein GAP Registry

*Attention: New Hires and Those New to Our Plan

Northern Westchester Hospital participants also have access to biometric screenings (given onsite) as one of their four wellness actions and required to receive any credits.

New hires and those new to our medical plans (which includes several union nurse populations within Northwell) are automatically credited $43.33 (semi monthly pay) or $40 (bi-weekly) for their four wellness actions – they have six months to comply or the credits will end.

Take care of number one, and schedule your 2019 preventive care visits! Your compliance is your date-of-service, which is provided by your health care provider and processed through one of Northwell Health’s insurance carriers or partners. Review your wellness summary when logged into mySelfService>myBenefits about two months after your action.

Is there a place to submit a hard copy proving the visit for the healthcare credits, especially if it has been 6-8 weeks?

I had a dental visit and cleaning done quite a while ago-past 8 weeks but I still do not see that I have gotten credit for it. What can I do to receive credit?

I can’t find the Health Survey. I have UHC and when I log into the myuhc website, it’s a very stark dashboard with 3 links to find a doctor, manage claims, and view saved doctors and facilities. I scroll down and there is info on costs, claims etc. I have been searching everywhere on all the menus and can’t find the survey that is required to complete. This happens every year – there is no clear communication on how to get to the actual survey.

I attempted to access the Financial Wellness Pledge Video and the link didn’t open the program. Please advise.
